The 2nd Festival of non-formal education was held in October, 10th-12th in Minsk International Educational Center І named after J. Rau.

The Festival gathered more than 200 representatives of educational organizations which work in the sphere of adult and youth education in Belarus, as well as educators from Germany, Denmark, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.  The role of non-formal education in personal and social development, importance of opportunities for providing life-long learning, the necessity to get recognition of non-formal education and elaboration of strategy of interaction with formal educational structures were emphasized during the Festival.

Thereupon, peculiarities, problems and perspectives of non-formal education were outlined on the base of proposals on educational policy in general, and non-formal education in particular in Belarus, the Ukraine and Germany.  Together with non-governmental organizations, representatives of National Assembly, Ministry of Education, state educational organizations, business and confessional educational organizations opportunities of widening inter-sectoral cooperation, its importance for actual social issues, as well as necessity to take into account non-formal education in educational system in general were discussed.

The main peculiarity of the ІІ Festival was the second day of open doors. Approximately 250 people visited its events. Various presentations and master-classes on different topics were proposed. It was possible to look through organizations’ stands, to meet editors and authors of Belarusian magazines, to visit literature exhibition provided by scientific-pedagogical library. At the end of the 2nd day the ceremony of the best educational issues for the last two years and winners of stand and master-class contest was held. Special awards from “Budzma” campaign were given to those stands which more than others emphasized importance of development and respect of Belarusian culture.

The 3rd day was dedicated to issues of international cooperation, actual objectives of civil education and recognition of non-formal education in Belarus. Participants underlined necessity to integrate all forms of Belarusian education into European educational space, verbalized intention to organize regular meetings with European partners for discussion and identification of long-term strategies of cooperation in non-formal education sphere.

The organizers of the Festival are satisfied with its results.  They think that such events enrich social life of the country and give impulse for development of diversity and usefulness of educational organizations in Belarus.
